Papermaking Workshop at One of Canberra’s best kept secrets…

is the Strathnairn Arts Gallery, which is located in Holt, North Canberra. With devine surroundings, sculpture walks and a fantastic café to indulge in the glorious cakes and coffee, the ever rotation of Exhibitions and Events is guaranteed to have something to spark your interest.

At present, Strathnairn Arts has a fantastic Centenary Event occurring – Terrain:Mapping Strathnairn, with many interesting workshops open to the public. These include the Temporary Land Art Installations 2013 by Canberra Region Feltmakers and the Bird hide Permanent Installation 2013.  Design and construction by Phil Nizette and Jennifer Jones from Wellspring Environmental Arts and Design Wellspring.

This weekend is shaping up to be another weekend full of activities including:

Friday 24 May 10 – 4pm Village Hall Workshop Eco dying, constructions, knotting and netting with Gabriella Hegyes and volunteer artists from the Nets group using natural and made materials.  $30

Saturday 25 May 10 – 4pm Village Hall Workshop Eco dying, constructions, knotting and netting with Gabriella Hegyes and volunteer artists from the Nets group using natural and made materials. $30

Sunday 26 May 10 – 4pm Village Hall Workshop Eco dying, constructions, knotting and netting with Gabriella Hegyes and volunteer artists from the Nets group using natural and made materials. $30

Purple Haze A response to the regular invasion of Salvation Jane/Patterson’s Curse in the field below the old shearer’s quarters. A ‘carpet’ of mauve/lavender/purple will be created by the community. Donated fabric and yarn tied into black bird netting during the event and installed at various sites as sections are completed.  Free

Come along and participate in this exciting project!

Along with this the inaugural Papermaking workshop is being held this Saturday 25 May 9.30-4pm on the Woolshed verandah, cost $50.
