Straight off my easel and delivered to Aarwun Gallery

I often talk about how the seasons in Canberra are an influence on my creative process. Autumn is no different, the gentle breeze in the air with the vivid col0ur change to each and every leaf that I pass in the trees.

I enjoy working in all sizes as you know, my miniatures are a constant delight to me. However, the feeling of freedom I experienced in painting on a large scale was so enjoyable. Throw in a new colour palette to invigorate my mind and well, the time spent in my studio creating these pieces was not an arduous task to say the least.

Adding then subtracting colour to the canvas, then repeating the colour upon colour process was not something new to me, I’d used the same process in my previous works for my Isolation or Solace exhibition works. What was new was adding in and experimenting with the ways in which the colour was added, adapting a lot of different techniques that I utilise when creating my monotype prints.

As always, the call of line work is always present, and while I restrained from including it in “Autumn Breeze”, I felt it calling me in the creation of my next Canvas “Autumn Floats”.
