This week I will be participating in the Group Exhibition at Aarwun Gallery, “A Hommage” – A Group Wildlife Exhibition.

Due to the current COVID 19 Pandemic, this exhibition will be held online, with the Exhibition Catalogue to be available soon.

A mob of kangaroos at Mulligans Flat Reserve Canberra, 2013

When I was living near the Mulligan’s Flat reserve, we often saw groups of Kangaroos enjoying the grassland. Often the large males would begin to scrap about, getting things out of their system.

It is a really tumultuous time at present with the community bracing whilst this pandemic runs its course.

The Scrap by Kylie Fogarty. Large lightfast ink drawing of boxing kangaroos on stretched linen by Australian artist Kylie Fogarty
THE SCRAP, 120 X 110CM ARCHIVAL INK ON CARRAVAGGIO STRETCHED LINEN BY AUSTRALIAN ARTIST KYLIE FOGARTY

This is the inspiration for my large scaled drawing, “The Scrap”.
I find the personalities of kangaroos endearing, however, after seeing the various debacle that has been occurring due to lack of toilet paper lately, you can see why these large boxing kangaroos came to mind. Even better, I had the most beautiful large linen canvas to create it on.

My latest work of boxing kangaroos is included in the new exhibition "A Hommage" which opens this week @aarwungallery Although galleries are now closed due to COVID 19, you can still visit the exhibition on the gallery website, catalogue available soon....In light of the current situation around Australia, we have decided not to have an official opening of our new exhibition - A Hommage to our wildlife. The impact on all small business including working artists and galleries is yet to be seen. Not everyone will have the ability to invest in art for this reason. However, there is still so much you can do to support the arts during this time.

Online Exhibitions are popping up everywhere, and one way to bring some sunshine into the day is to share your latest favourite artwork with your friends and family.

By sharing on your instagram, pinterest or facebook, you are helping artists by showing your support, and increasing the awareness of our many amazing artists that are working away during this time.

By adding tag / link to the artist, you are not only helping an artist and gallery to meet new art enthusiasts, you are showing your support in the best way possible, and it means the world to artists like myself.

Stay well and take care everyone – K
