Visitor amongst the Vines by Kylie Fogarty
On this day in 2018 I was so focused on the vines, all I could hear were birds and the wind in the vines. It was so quiet when suddenly I had this realisation that I was being watched. A few rustles and I had to investigate. Happily meandering through the vines was the local echidna. I was delighted! He however, was not when he realised that the tables had turned and quickly burrowed into the ground under the vines until he felt safe to come out again.
Created using predominately traditional dip ink pens and bamboo reed pens with archival pigmented pens.
During a seven-year residency at Barton Estate Wines, Kylie Fogarty has witnessed the care taken during the viticulture process and also the heartache of an enduring love of the vine. The body of work will include paintings and drawings, responding to her experience at the winery, as well as the varying elements which have impacted the wines during this time, including heat, rain, hail, and more recently, fire and devastatingly, smoke.
This exhibition embraces not only the landscape of the location of Barton Estate Wines, but also the love and process of Viticulture.
Visitor amongst the Vines was part of the In The Vines Artist in Residence Solo Exhibition 2020. The exhibition embraces not only the landscape of the location of Barton Estate Wines, but also the love and process of Viticulture.
